About Rodrigo

I am a software engineer. I have my Msc. in Computer Science with an emphasis in Games and Human Computer Interaction from the University of Saskatchewan, and I graduated with my Bsc. in Computer Science with honours.

I’ve had a passion for video games since my first game, Super Mario World for the SNES. From my first time playing it, I knew I wanted to get into video game development. Since then, I’ve aimed to align my education in order to pursue a career in the video game industry. I hope to secure a challenging and rewarding full time position as a video game programmer, where I can use my creativity and skills to create amazing games.

My side projects can be viewed in the Projects page. I have worked on many projects in teams and individually in order to sharpen my C++ and C# skills. I am familiar with Unreal Engine 4, UDK, and Unity.

My research work and publications are available here. My thesis was centered on innovating, implementing, and evaluating player balancing mechanisms in multiplayer First Person Shooter games, which solves an important problem in FPS games – how players with different skill levels can compete together. My thesis work demonstrates techniques that balance play in terms of score differential, while increasing the enjoyment of the experience for both weaker and stronger players.
